Spicy, biddable, very smart, Lark has been able to do everything I ask of her (well, except agility). Since I brought her home from Norway, Lark and I have partnered in obedience, K9 search-and-rescue, French ring, and tracking. We started training in rettungshunde when she was 9 years old. At 10 years old, Lark won the 2025 ARSA national championship. Lark is the dam of our “D” and “E” Litters and we see some of Lark’s best traits in her offspring.

Dagger has the intensity of Knife, but in a slightly smaller package. Loves Hollee Rollers. Regularly ranked as one of the fastest Groenendaels in the US by Bad Dog Agility. Member of the 2024 AWMA World Agility Team. Just a few days after returning from the FMBB championship in Italy, Dagger suffered a severe case of meningioencephalitis. She was in critical condition for weeks, yet slowly she recovered. Dagger is back again performing at a high level in agility competition that amazes her neurologist and everyone else who saw her in 2024. Dagger also competes at the UD level in AKC obedience.

Iko was returned to us at 7 months old. We feel lucky to have him back. Iko is is active, boisterous and a little hard-headed. Nevertheless, he fits in easily with our other pack members. He got a late start in training, but he is progressing very well in French ring.

Whip has always been our happy go-lucky, show-off princess. She would have loved a career in conformation, but that wasn’t ever going to happen in this household. She is impervious to the pressure of competition, whether in obedience or agility. During 2024 and 2025 Whip has been one of the fastest Groenendaels competing in the AKC agility 20” Preferred Class. As of December 2025, Whip is still working toward her AKC agility championship and UD title in obedience. Whip is the dam of our “F” & “H” Litters.

Try is from the Knife X Lark breeding we had planned, not the one Knife and Lark had conspired to do without our permission (Sorry Dagger). We had hopes that Try would be our next French ring competitor. However, Try told us she just wants to run, jump, run more.

Knife was our first dog from inter-variety working lines. Joan brought him home from Sweden as an 8 week old puppy while we still had our own “A” litter at home. The difference between Knife and our home-bred puppies was remarkable. Knife was able to focus and engage with us at a level that our other pups weren't capable of for months. He developed physically faster than we had seen in any other dog. He would scamper onto the back of our sofa and launch across the room before we could stop him.

Knife was about 72 lbs during most of his agility career, Yet he was quick enough to compete head-to-head against some of the fastest border collies in our region and regularly ran 6.5+ YPS on Jumpers courses. At that speed and with his mass, Knife also broke weave poles on a regular basis. Knife was on the 2019 American Working Malinois World Agility Team and competed at the FMBB championships in the Czech Republic. He never made it onto the podium, but he and Joan made a very respectable showing nevertheless.

Knife began training in French ring soon after arriving in the US. It was clear from the first few training sessions that he was born for that sport. However, Joan’s interest lay more towards agility competition. So Knife was retired from French ring after earning his FR1 so as minimize the risk of an injury that could end his agility career.

Knife was a truly magnificent dog that impressed all the trainers, competitors and decoys who know him. He died of age-related causes just a month short of 15 years. Rest in Peace Knife.
