Most registries (except AKC) recognize the Belgian shepherd as a single breed subdivided into four varieties, largely on the basis of their different coats. Groenendaels are the black, long hair variety. AKC divides the Belgian shepherd into for different breeds—Belgian Laekenois, Belgian Malinois, Belgian Tervuren and Belgian Sheepdog. AKC does not permit breeding between the four Belgian breeds. Other countries do allow breeding between varieties, with some important restrictions

We have produced 9 litters since 2011. We are breeding more often now and are planning 3 litters in 2026 and 2027.

Yes. All of our dogs have passing or better hip and elbow scores by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals in the US or by FCI standards in Europe. All of our American dogs have been screened for eye diseases and genetic conditions relevant to Belgian shepherds.

Our dogs tend to be very active and impulsive. They are most suited to buyers who have experience training dogs for agility, competition obedience, protection sports or SAR.

No we don’t. Potential buyers can contact us for an application. We will review it and then want to chat about the puppies, their parents, your experience and your goals. Buyers are under no obligation to buy the puppy if their plans change.

Yes. Our purchase contracts describe certain responsibilities we, the sellers have to our buyers and stipulate obligations buyers have to us and to the dog they purchase from us. Contracts will remain enforceable for the lifetime of the dog.
